The TIT for TAT Diatribe
GLADGIVING or TITHING?
Is it AMITY or ENMITY?
Let us all therefore come boldly unto the Throne of Grace,
that we may obtain Mercy, and find Grace
to help in time of need.” Heb. 4:16
“To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in Heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.” Heb. 12:23
I agonized and hesitated long enough to tackle this peculiar subject of the shoveled down the throats and guts of believers principal of Tithing, because it is too delicate for the awkwardness of words and too simple for the lack of better terms to be tackle as an issue, like any other issue, with differing perspectives and conclusions despite the subjective biblical dispositions, attitudes and inferences. The core debate of this sensitive topic is described as black and while, true and false, yet it is better perceived as the East chasing the West.
In the face of a body of biblical evidences that are massive, sophisticated and targeted, presumption of innocence or guilt should be filtered through obedience to the biblical precepts of humility, of logic and of judgment by not engaging in Byzantine circular arguments. From personal conviction, while the subject matter requires great sensitivity, delicacy and reverence, I have a great deal of difficulty with all religions that render the belief in the Almighty a consumer product mostly sold on the open markets to the highest bidder, while God’s free grace and love are superb masterpieces sold in mundane auctions to shady unnamed collectors.
The attitude of our collective
Christian
Churches
is summarized by a certain Father John A. O’Brien, who wrote in his book the “Faith of Millions”, p 155: "The simple fact is that the Bible, like all dead letters, calls for a living interpreter." In other words God the Father is dead, God the Son is dead and God the Holy Spirit in whose name those pretenders speak is also dead. If we believe that the Bible is the word of the Living God, then what happens to our notion and belief in an eternally Living God, a Risen eternal Word of God, and an eternal source of life Holy Spirit? Does not the Bible and Apostle Paul reminds us that: “God’s word is quick (alive), and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joint and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the Heart.” Heb. 4:12
Evil is always spiteful, irate, vengeful and cruel as it preys on the spiritual thirst, misery, ignorance, naivety and lack of knowledge of the majority bereaved and weary average persons of this world. Before you reject out of hand my eschatological exposition and while I neither intend to redefine the common words to a personal definition in derogatorily outraging nor sensationally astonishing the readers as much will depend on the willingness of the reader to reconsider every biblical premise of the test for logic and truthfulness of the claims perpetrated by Christian leaders and clergy; I can honestly echo John Alexander Smith’s statement:
“…My conclusions will be worthless if they are declarations of what I suppose in contrast to what some others suppose, leaving you to suppose that one supposition may be the better...” (The Underground Grammarian, vol. 9 # 1 p. 271).
Let us delve and probe what the Bible says about this divisive subject asking God to enlighten all of us to faithfully and religiously discern and heed his Word, bearing in mind that: “God is no respecter of persons” Acts 10:34 and “What is man that You are mindful of? Heb 2:6
“And that because of false brethren unaware brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage.” Gal 2:4
“Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever... Amen.”
Rom.
1:25
“Woe unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.” Matt. 23:15
Today’s principal precepts and basis of Tithing are a conjured world where orthodox rules, theological truths and Jesus’ teachings are suspended and replaced by a body of mandates by some religious hungry clergy who oscillate and vacillate with the winds mixing and striding Law (Old Covenant) and Grace (The new Covenant) dogmas.
To be able to witness the veracity of the above statement, read the books and watch those richer than Midas TV evangelists and others, who are, on one hand, preaching that we live under Grace, that we undeservedly saved by Grace devoid of any fulfilling of the Law on our part, as being purified, justified and sanctified by and our total salvation was fully paid for by the precious shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, while on the other hand, they constantly drag us, the believers, on a painful guilt trip of robbing the Lord, which will result in death, illness, misfortune, and calamities, and finally render us dwellers of Hell. Welcome to the church of doom and gloom, of Hell devoid of any hope of Heaven, of money with no mercy, and finally of confusion instead of conviction.
